A significant role, the incumbent will join a team of 4500 team members spread throughout the globe. This key leadership role will create a sustainable competitive advantage in assigned categories, including products and services, by developing a supply chain that achieves superior value in quality, cost, and delivery. To accomplish this, the incumbent will implement the global purchasing strategy for selected commodities within each of the regions.
A global client, the Manager will utilize the global leverage of the company by focusing on the development of regional/local relationships with partners. The overall goal will be to ensure that the client achieves the best value in lower costs, improved reliability, and improved service.
Key also will be to develop commodity leadership by coordinating the supplier relationships, building and maintaining market and supplier knowledge in assigned areas. This role will also coordinate cross-functional relationships, including product development/engineering, materials, operations, finance, and aftermarket, in support of commodity leadership.

Responsibilities
Provide commodity leadership in helping to create and implement a plan for building and maintaining a competitive advantage in the assigned commodity and region.
Identify, develop, and implement effective global supply chain strategy to support the commitment to build a competitive advantage in supply chain.
Develop a detailed knowledge of the local business arrangements currently in place for purchasing on the commodities. Understand and communicate key drivers for each business unit, including current challenges, constraints etc.
Provide regional market information on the commodity, current and projected requirements, and information on current performance.
Develop a network of relationships with suppliers, line managers, and sector purchasing professionals.
Support and contribute to the selection of potential providers, using local and regional knowledge to ensure reliability of supply of high-quality components & systems.
Coordinate strategic sourcing and product engineering efforts to maximize the development of a robust supply chain with materials, processes and/or components that improve reliability, manufacturability, and cost and product integrity.
Monitor and manage supplier performance, communicate performance issues and manage significant problem areas to ensure needed improvements.
Identify, measure, and document cost savings goals, objectives and plans to realize opportunities and achieve cost reduction targets.
Qualifications/Requirements
The ideal candidate will have significant experience and a track record of success in purchasing/procurement with some exposure to power train and drive train systems.
He or she will be able to understand and have worked in an environment of long-term strategic partnership arrangements, including scorecards and service level agreements.
The candidate should have had a management level role in business with purchasing experience and must demonstrate competence in leadership and communication.
Exposure to disciplines such as Total Quality Management, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Toyota Production System, DFSS, or Demand Flow Technology is a plus.
A bachelor degree in a relevant field such as business administration, supply chain,
operations, engineering.
An advanced degree such as an MBA is a plus, but not required.
The preferred candidate is results-oriented, a self-starter, and an excellent communicator who has demonstrated the ability to operate in a fast paced, continuous improvement environment and is able to apply a global project on a local basis and achieve success for each stakeholder in the process.
