This high-profile position is responsible for the development and implementation of construction contracting strategies for a variety of industrial capital projects. Key to the role will be to develop coherent construction contracting strategies for industrial capital projects, including developing the strategy and leading the qualification process. The type of construction projects the incumbent will be responsible for can exceed $200m. One current project is a $450 million scrubber project, but could be focused on many areas including generation, transmission, water, and miscellaneous construction. One area of focus will be on the refurbishment of plants constructed in 60s, 70s, and 80s. The incumbent will be surrounded by strong senior management, including a proven procurement professional who coordinated procurement for the 1996 Olympics.

Responsibilities

Development and implement construction contracting strategies for a variety of industrial capital projects.
Strategically lead construction contracting strategy by understanding local supply market economics and competitive structure of targeted suppliers and industries in targeted markets.

Qualifications/Requirements


A four-year undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university or equivelant. This could include Business, Finance, Engineering, or Supply Chain Management.

An MBA is desirable.

Strong analytical and leadership skills.

Strong interpersonal skills, including knowledge of how to effectively deal with tough suppliers.

10 years of experience highly desirable, with 2-3 years of industrial construction procurement
experience.

Experience managing and leading $10+ million projects.

Strong experience supervising construction procurement employees.

Significant experience with industrial construction. This includes the following sectors - refinery, power plant, industrial manufacturing facilities, energy - Oil & Gas, civil infrastructure, environmental, DOD-related projects.

Knowledge of alternative delivery techniques - engineer-procure-construct, construction manager at risk, job order contracting.

Experience in construction sealed bidding, and competitive sealed proposals.

Strong knowledge of industrial construction market - utility, refining, industrial processes manufacturing facilities. Knowledge of top 10 firms crucial.

Experience with the negotiation of multimillion dollar projects. Negotiation strategy and tactics.

Understand legal, technical, and business aspects of industrial construction.

Expert in contract administration of construction contracts.

Experience partnering with stakeholders to create shared solutions, specific deliverables and clear expectations.

Analyze and make changes to the “Req to Check” process.

Analyze and automate PO process. Develop system which matches POs to invoices.
